Sunday, February 09, 2003 No Web Services at O'Reilly Emerging Conference I was just noticing that at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference there weren't any sessions on web services. This is good news - and bad news. It is good because people are beginning to view web services in a state beyond 'emerging'. Many have already built production web service applications - and they think they pretty much got it figured out. The bad news is that most people don't have it figured out AND web services (GXA style) are still emerging. Either way, the community needs good meeting grounds. Perhaps we shouldn't read into this at all - perhaps Tim and friends are of the opinion that there are already too many web service conferences and they don't want to get in that competitive space. Personally, I'd like to see an O'Reilly WS-Con. p.s. Is it just me or does the conference look lame? wireless, publishing and fat clients?
